This kit is of the Manchester Standard tramcars. The design of the bogie tram gradually evolved from the uncanopied open top cars, through uncanopied top covered cars and balcony versions, until in 1920 the first totally enclosed bogie cars were introduced. This design became known as the Manchester Standard and, allowing for minor variations, the design was used until 1930 and a total of 349 cars were built. In addition 123 of the older bogie cars were rebuilt to the same general design.
