This kit is of the first batch of Liverpool twin staircase cars which were numbered 577-582.
They were shorter than the later batch of cars 583-605 (see kit KW 022a).
They were built in 1913 at the Lambeth Road works.
Some of these were later converted to have single stairs, and also had shorter platforms and enclosed top decks (see kit KW 022b).
