This kit is of the standard 6 window Brush open top tramcars. While some four wheel tramcars were built with six window lower deck saloons the majority received the three window design. General wear and tear, the lack of maintenance during the 1914-1918 war, and in some cases the use of unseasoned timbers, resulted in some cars having the saloons strengthened by the addition of extra window pillars. Between 1916 and 1926 many of the original open-top cars of the Gateshead and Walthamstow systems were so treated.
